The Cubs are represented by numerous players who have played at the collegiate and professional level as well as have participated in the Northwoods League. Since 2016, our team members have played at the following:
The Brookings Cubs are an amateur adult baseball team which represent the city of Brookings and plays its home games at Bob Shelden Field.
The Cubs are comprised of players ages 19 and up, with many having graduated from Brookings High School and the Friends of Brookings Baseball program. The team, however, is open to any player who is eligible under South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association guidelines. The Cubs offer all FOB players the chance to continue their baseball career after graduation from high school, and is tradition, invite all Bandits players from the season to join the team upon completion of the Senior Legion season.
The 2025 Cubs will feature many names and faces you are familiar with, but also a host of new talent. Brookings High School and University of Sioux Falls graduate Rhett Zelinsky will take over the reigns as manager, with assistance from Alec Johnson.
The 2025 squad will play approximately 25 regular season games from mid-May to late July, culminating with the state tournament which is played over two weekends in August. The first weekend of the state tournament will be held in Aberdeen, while the second weekend visits Brandon for the first time.
Additionally, Brookings will serve as host site for the North District to be held during the window of July 31 to August 3.
